Build your own Doghouse

The above doghouse was built for our Saint Bernards.

It measures 4' x 4' and 4' high at the center. We built these so they would be ample

room for the dam and her pups. The 2 x 4 at the top run out both ends. Inside it can

be used for a clip-on light (we have used it for a fan) to keep the pups warm in the

winter or helps to cool in the summer (until they reach the stage where they can control

their body heat).

Do not use electricity if the pups can reach the cords and chew on them!!!

Also on the outside of the 2 x 4 you can use a 5/16" eye bolt to hook

a chain or rope if you ever need to control your dog that way. (we had to chain Rowdy

several times to keep him from injuring his mouth and face if a female was in heat.)

These doghouses can be made in whatever size you need. We have plans for:

Note that the sizes listed above gives the most output from a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood

and from 2 x 4 x 8' studs.

Building these doghouses requires power tools, if you don't have any or are not familar

with these tools then do not attempt to build them. Get someone that is, to do it for you.

The most important tool would be the Skillsaw, this saw is dangerous if you're not

careful with it, a sabersaw and a screwdriver (electric or battery power is the best) is

required. A table saw would be nice to cut the bevels on the 2 x 4's but it can be done

with the skillsaw.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these plans
